Introducing Sequence Polling: Prioritize, Rank, and Understand Audience Preferences

MeetingPulse now includes Sequence Polling, a powerful new poll type designed to capture ranked or ordered responses from attendees. This feature helps presenters understand priorities, workflows, or step-by-step decision-making across their audience.

What is Sequence Polling?

Sequence polling allows presenters to offer multiple response options, and attendees select a specific order for those responses. Each submission represents a unique sequence, and results are aggregated to show the most popular orderings.

This poll type is especially useful for questions like:

  • “What steps should you take when assessing a patient?”

  • “In which order should we prioritize upcoming projects?”

  • “Rank the following procedures for treating this condition”

How to use Sequence Polls

  1. Create a Sequence Poll

    • Add a new poll and select Sequence Poll as the type.

    • Enter all the response options attendees can rank.

    • Below uses example responses for the question: “What steps should you take when assessing a patient?”

2. (Optional) Limit max number of chosen answers

  • You can set a maximum number of answers attendees can select in their sequence. For example, if you have 8 response options and set a limit of 5, attendees must prioritize their top 5 responses rather than ranking all 8.

3. (Optional) Enable other settings

  • You can further customize the poll by enabling options such as “Require all options to be sequenced”, which requires attendees to rank the maximum number of choices you set.

4. Launch the poll to attendees!

  • Launch the poll to push it to attendee devices.

Attendees then select the responses in their desired order, or drag to reorder them once their selected.

  • Each submission records the exact sequence chosen.

  • Below is an example of an attendee answering the poll created above - with 8 options and a max limit of 5.

Post submission: View Aggregated Results

  • After attendee submission, results display the most popular sequences across all attendees. You can view Sequence Poll results in Presenter View, Broadcast View, and the Engagement Report.

  • By default, Sequence Polls use a "Table feed" style that lists all submitted sequences, making it easy to see which orders were most common.

  • In addition to other poll styles, you can switch to the new “Table results” style. This displays a table with a final column showing the count of each submitted sequence, making it easy to see which sequences were most popular. See the example below.

Sequence Polling makes it easy to capture structured, ranked input from your audience, helping organizers make more informed decisions and facilitating interactive, data-driven discussions.
