Already have your poll questions written in a Word document, Google Doc, or text file? With Smart Paste, you don't need to build each poll one by one. Copy your questions and answer choices, paste them in once, and MeetingPulse creates all your polls for you.
How to format your questions
Smart Paste uses the formatting of your text to tell questions and answer choices apart:
Put each question on its own line with no indentation.
Place the answer choices directly below the question and indent each one using the Tab key.
Leave a blank line between each question.
Example
Your document should look something like this before you copy it:
What is your preferred meeting format?
In person
Virtual
Hybrid
Which topics are you most interested in?
Product updates

Create your polls with Smart Paste
Format your questions and answers using the guidelines above.
Copy all the questions and answer choices you want to create.
In your MeetingPulse meeting, open Polls & Surveys and click New Poll.
Paste everything into the Poll question field, the box that says Enter poll question.
Make sure you paste into the Poll question field, not the Response choices fields.
The Smart Paste window will open automatically. At the top, you'll see how many poll questions were detected, such as "5 poll questions detected and auto-formatted."
Review the Preview to make sure each question and its answer choices were detected correctly.
Click Create [number] polls to add all of the polls to your meeting at once.
Tip: If you only meant to paste a single question as plain text, click Paste as text instead. This pastes your text into the field without creating separate polls.
Working with different question types
Single Answer
Polls created through Smart Paste are set to Single Answer by default. If attendees should select only one response, no additional setup is needed.
Open-ended
You can also use Smart Paste for open-ended questions. Add the question without any answer choices, and Smart Paste will create the question for you.
Other Poll Types
Smart Paste creates polls as Single Answer by default. If a question doesn't include any answer choices, it will be created as Free Text Poll. If you need a different poll type, you can update it after the poll has been created.
To change the poll type:
Click the three-dot menu to the right of the poll and select Edit.
Change the Poll type to the type you want to use.
Adjust any additional settings for that poll type.
Click Save to apply your changes.
Tip: If you're creating several polls, use Smart Paste to create them all first, then go back and update any polls that need a different poll type.
Troubleshooting
My answer choices were created as separate questions
Check that each answer choice is indented using the Tab key. Any line without an indent may be interpreted as a new question.
Smart Paste detected the wrong number of questions
Click Cancel, review the formatting in your original document, and try copying and pasting it again.
Before creating your polls, always check the number of questions detected and review the preview.
With Smart Paste, you can quickly turn existing questions into ready-to-use polls, saving time and making it easier to prepare your meeting.
